After some initial research it seems to me that 1 upgrade is possible and 2 that there seem to be some issues if the Arduino is not already connected during boot time of the PC?? Therefore my questions:. To upgrade to Windows 10, will I need a new USB driver for my Arduino Uno and if so, I assume it comes together with all the drivers in the Arduino programming environment package, correct? Are there STILL maybe my information is outdated any issues with the Windows 10 driver, like that there will be no connection established when the Arduino is only connected while the PC is already up and running.

Thanks very much. Connection to the Arduino are only setup whan you open the comm port. This happens when for example you try to upload code or when you open the Serial monitor. Not when you restart the PC or when you plug in the Arduino. I am aware that connection to the Arduino is only set up when the communication port is opened.

According to what I read maybe it is outdated?? Do you have any experience with Windows 10 already? Is a new USB driver needed and does it work reliably?

When I attached one of these arduinos to my windows 7 notepad, windows automatically loaded the driver, so it is probably included in the current windows versions.

How is the build quality of the board itself? I got the arduino from the below vendor and it looked good. I put an ethernet shield on it and it worked as expected. The vendor also has megas and ethernet shields at good prices.

I have in all cases of upgrades done it with a new computer hardware upgrade,. At least 6 months after it has been released, that way most!! I hate that. I have a really nice souped up Lenovo Workstation, W, with nicely centered keypad. New model is W with offset keypad due to number pad. MrsCrossroads has the same. Mine is a little older with Win7Pro, hers a little newer with Win8. Has updated to Win10 and I am hearing a lot less complaining now. I’m sticking with Win7Pro for the time being.
